Common PNG to JPG problems & fixes
Blurry output images
Blur usually comes from the source JPG, not the conversion. Heavily compressed JPGs already lost detail — PNG just preserves what's there. Re-export from the original RAW or PSD whenever possible.
Large file size after conversion
PNG is lossless, so photo-heavy images balloon in size. Use PNG only when transparency or sharp edges matter. For web photos, prefer JPG or WebP, or run the PNG through a compressor like pngquant after conversion.
Transparency not working
JPG cannot store transparency, so converting a JPG to PNG will not magically remove a background. You need a background-removal step first. After that, save as PNG to keep the alpha intact.
Upload errors
Make sure the file is actually a JPG (extensions like .heic or .webp won't work). Very large files (200 MB+) can stall on low-memory devices because everything runs in your browser.
Browser issues
Use an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Private/incognito modes sometimes block downloads — open the converter in a normal tab if a download silently fails.
Colours look different
JPGs sometimes embed an ICC colour profile. Convert with a tool that preserves the profile, or re-export from your editor in sRGB before converting.

What is JPG?
JPG (also written JPEG) is a lossy raster format created in 1992 by the Joint Photographic Experts Group. It compresses images by analysing 8×8 pixel blocks and discardexing visual information humans don't easily perceive. The result is dramatically smaller files — ideal for photographs, where the missing detail is invisible at normal viewing sizes. The drawback is that every save adds more loss, and JPG cannot store transparency.
What is PNG?
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) was created in 1996 as an open replacement for GIF. It uses lossless DEFLATE compression, so re-saving never reduces quality. PNG supports an alpha channel for full transparency, gamma correction for accurate colour, and indexed palettes for tiny UI assets. It's the default choice for logos, icons, screenshots, and anything with sharp edges or transparent regions.
